Wolfgang Weisselberg, shooting for joy

Wolfgang Weisselberg > That's how it looks once the filter has been placed correctly.

The filter has some tendency to slip out, so an occasional tap to move it back in place may be needed.

You can also see nicely here that the filters just fit for the 550EX's flashhead.
Wolfgang Weisselberg > By pushing the filter to the "bottom" of the flash, the filter can move past that snag.
Wolfgang Weisselberg > One weakness is the fact that filters tend to catch at the cut-out for the diffusor, as demonstrated here.
Wolfgang Weisselberg > ... then to the other side.
Wolfgang Weisselberg > You first push the filter under the diagonal strip ...
Wolfgang Weisselberg > As you can see, space for the diffusor has been cut out of the filters where necessary.
Wolfgang Weisselberg > I then cut the "Clear" filter lengthwise.
One strip comes from the upper corner towards the center, the other, as shown here, hugs the other side.
Wolfgang Weisselberg > For the 550EX a different method is needed, since the diffusor plate is in the way.

Before I started cutting any filters, I used some paper strips (and the still uncut clear filter) to test my idea.
Wolfgang Weisselberg > From the side, the filter is much easier to see. Observe that it's not 100% tight --- I tested inserting a filter before fixating the "Clear" filter to make sure there will be enough space. And I may want to stack filters one day.
